James E Singer, age 80, of Tipton, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 14, 2017 at St Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital.
He was born on January 14, 1937 in Elwood, to the late Francis and Mary (Jones) Singer.
On October 18, 1959 he married the love of his life Margaret (Beeman) Singer and they shared more than 44 years of marriage.
Jim served our country in the United States Army. He retired in 1980, from the Delco-Remy division of General Motors Corporation after 14 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local 662 and formerly a member of the Moose Lodge. He loved to draw, paint and enjoyed playing the steel guitar. Jim was also a craftsman and enjoyed making things out of wood.
Jim is survived by 3 daughters, Billy Lane of Elwood, Debra (Dennis Martin) Singer of Anderson, and Teresa (Jackie) Mead of Tipton, 6 grandchildren, Beth Patterson, Matt (Jackie) Lane, Johnny McClish, Julie Stanton, Jammie (Bryan), and Jason Singer, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, twin-sister, Janet Carey, brother, Wesley Singer, and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Marion Singer and Mary Singer, wife, Margaret Singer who died in 2004, 3 brothers, Robert Singer, William Singer, and Marion Singer, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 pm Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood with Pastor Jack Bess officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery with military honors conducted by members of the U.S. Army and the Tipton American Legion Honor Guard teams.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 19, 2017, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to Oncology Department of St. Vincent Mercy Hospital.
