Betty Francine Vanness, age 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne.
She was born on November 8, 1925, to the late Leonadis and Tillie (Etchison) Leisure.
On May 3, 1943 she married the love of her life Walter Vanness Jr.
Betty worked at Steven Springs in Elwood and General Motors. She was a member of First Pentecostal Church in Fort Wayne. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. Betty was known for her homemade noodles and sugar cream pies. Betty is survived by her loving husband, of 76 years, Walter Vanness, Jr. of Fort Wayne, daughter, Nadine White, son, David Vanness of Goshen, grandchildren, Paul (Suzanne) White, Brandie Turner, Joe Vanness, and Kari McNamara, 5 great grandchildren, Macy (Logan) Elliott, Cheyanne White, Jaden White, Alec Vanness, and Alexa Vanness, and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her father, Leonadis Leisure, mother, Tillie Leisure, infant daughter, Francine Vanness , 2 brothers, Donald Leisure and Richard Leisure, and son-in-law, Larry White. .
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at First Pentecostal Church in Fort Wayne, with Pastor Jeremy Baines and Rev. Paul White officiating. Graveside service will follow at 2:30 in the Elwood City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 am at First Pentecostal Church, 935 Farwood Ave. Fort Wayne, IN 46816.
Arrangements were entrusted to Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood.
