Chester "Buddy" Murray

April 3, 1955 ~ March 1, 2018 (age 62)


Chester "Buddy"  Murray III, age 62, of Elwood, passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born on April 3, 1955, in Elwood to the late Chester  and Ethel (Elsworth) Murray.
On September 7, 1996 he married Victoria (Clendenen) Murray.
Buddy was employed at Red Gold in Elwood for more than 20 years.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, going to grandchildren's sporting events, and taking his daily trip around town to make sure his family was safe.  He was a member of the Elwood Elks Lodge.   Buddy enjoyed people and loved talking to everyone.  He never knew a stranger.  
Buddy is survived by his loving wife, of 22 years, Victoria (Clendenen) Murray of Elwood, 2 daughters, Angela Murray of Elwood and Kisha (Jamie) Crawford of Elwood, 3 step-sons, Shad (Lori) Grile of Pendleton, Matthew Smedley of Anderson, and Michael Smedley of Anderson, 13 grandchildren, Mackenzie Bryan, Keegan Moss, Jaleigh Crawford, Journey Crawford, Mackenzie Crawford, Steven Grile, Nathan Grile, Hannah Grile, Jackson Grile, Theron Smedley, Lauren  Smedley, Jayden Smedley, Lani Smedley, 2 great-grandchildren, Paisley Shaw and Parker Crawford, brother, Rodney (Angie) Murray of Elwood, nephew, Jason Murray, and many other extended family members, close friends, Bobby, Randy, Scott and many other close friends.
Buddy was preceded in death by his father, Chester "Bud" Murray, Jr., mother, Ethel Murray, and  his grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at 5:00 pm Monday, March 5, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood with Chad Moss officiating.  Cremation will follow.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 4, 2018,  from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood, and will include an Elks Memorial Service at 6:00 pm.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Julie Johnson Memorial Tower or the Buddy Murray Scholarship Fund through the funeral home.
