Dallas R. Thomas Jr., age 83, of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.
He was born in West Lafayette on May 2, 1935, to the late Dallas R. and Edith (DeWitt) Thomas Sr. Dallas was a graduate of Alexandria High School.
Dallas worked for many years as a sales manger for Bullock Garage Builders. He was well known for selling Christmas trees in Elwood and was known to many as the "Christmas Tree Man". Dallas opened his first Christmas tree lot when he was only 14 years old. He was a member of the Elwood Elks Lodge and was an avid fisherman. Family meant everything to Dallas, he was a loving father and grandfather.
Dallas is survived by 3 daughters, Kimerly (Scott) Brown of Birmingham, AL, Trisha Thomas Lizotte of Lafayette, and Tami Macon of Indianapolis, son, Frank (Bridget) Thomas of Helena, AL, and 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Dallas was preceded in death by his father, Dallas R. Thomas, Sr., mother, Edith J. Thomas, half brother, Gene Thomas, and 2 brothers, Richard "Dick" Thomas and David Thomas.
Funeral services will be at 11am on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Scott Blaylock officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 - 8 pm on Friday, June 15, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood.
