Diana Kay (Barmes) Haas

April 6, 1945 ~ August 5, 2019 (age 74)

Diana Kay (Barmes) Haas, age 74, formerly a life-long citizen of Elwood, Indiana, died Aug. 5, 2019, after a brief battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her son & daughter at Pleasant View Lodge, McCordsville, Indiana, where she’d been a resident for several months.
Diana, the daughter of LeRoy “Red” Barmes and Donna Clary Barmes, was born April 6, 1945, at Elwood Mercy Hospital. She attended Elwood City Schools, graduating from Wendell L. Willkie High School in 1963.  She was married to Danny Jolliff and together, they had three children, Darin, Dena and Destin. Diana later married David Haas and loved his children, Autumn, Ann, David and Chris.
Living nearly all her life in Elwood, Diana was employed by Dr. Robert Ulrey and Dr. Walter E. Wirth, and retired from the Elwood Police Department after 31 years of service.
Diana was a very active, loving and encouraging Mother/Mom/Mama and grandmother, often driving many miles to support her children and grandchildren in their athletic and music activities.  Family time was always foremost and that also included extended family and dear family friends, especially officers and their families from the Elwood Police Department. Diana’s house and front porch were always overflowing with family and friends, and any family/holiday meal was an open invitation often accepted by on/off-duty police officers, firemen, neighbors, and many family friends.
For nearly twenty years, Diana was an enthusiastic supporter of the Elwood Community High School Music Program and the Athletic Program.  She also volunteered for The March of Dimes and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Diana is survived by her children, Darin Jolliffe-Haas of Kettering, Ohio; Dena (Marc) Haas-Johnson of Fortville, Indiana; her daughter-in-law, Stacia Haas of Fowler; her grandchildren, Andrew, Carolyne, Freddie, Griffith, James, Jon, Jose, Joshua, Jude, Kaytlinn, Matthew, Parker, and Quintin. She is also survived by her two bonus-sons, James & John Wilson; her aunt, Joyce Clary Riser; her uncle, Danny Barmes; several nieces and nephews; and many beloved cousins.
Preceding Diana in death were her parents, Leroy & Donna Barmes; her son, Destin Haas; her brother, Ronald Barmes; her grandparents John William Garrett & Belle Clary and Virgil & Thelma Barmes.
A blended visitation and service at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana, will be presented by Diana’s family and friends.
Visitation will be on Friday, August 9, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and a celebration of Diana's life service will begin at 6:00 PM at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood, IN.
