Herbert E. "Herbie" Huff, age 84, of Elwood, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 at his daughter's residence following a brief illness.
He was born in Holmes Mill, Kentucky on March 13, 1934, to the late George Dewey and Mary Ann (Kelley) Huff.
Herbie was retired from Textron in Elwood after 25 plus years of loyal service. He was a member of North American Thunderbird Club and has small collection of Thuderbirds. He enjoyed leather work and hand tooled saddles for the Rose Bowl Parade Horses. Leather working was a passion of his and he also enjoyed horses. Herbie was a simple man; that was down to earth, kind, generous, and a friend to all who knew him.
Herbie is survived by Sherry Huff; daughter, Angelena (husband James) Kelich; sons, Jason Huff, and Craig Huff; grandsons, Nicholas (wife Tiffany) Pearson, Joseph Pearson, and Bradley Pearson; great-granddaughters, Gracie Pearson, and Maria Pearson; sister-in-law, Arkie Huff and her family; and his beagle-baby, Runt. He was preceded in death by his father, George Dewey Huff; mother, Mary Ann Huff; brother, Carl Huff; and sisters, Florence Shuler, and, Ruby Vallerin.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana with Pastor Larry Schimmel officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 8, 2018, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Elwood Animal Shelter through the funeral home.
