Jerry Lee Deavers, age 59, of Elwood, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Reid Health in Richmond, IN. Jerry was born on August 22, 1958, in Sussex, NJ the son of Joseph and Janet (Groover) Babcock.
On June 27, 1998 he married the love of his life Gina Deavers. They loved and shared almost 20 years of marriage. Jerry served his country in the Army National Guard. He was employed at ELSA Corporation of Elwood for almost 23 years. Jerry loved the New York Giants and New York Knicks. He enjoyed watching all animal shows on television and he loved remodeling their home. Jerry would do anything for his family and was a hard worker. His family was everything to him and was so excited and looking forward to being a "Pop Pop" in April. Jerry was more like a son to Gary & Kathy than a son-in-law. He loved the series of "The Fast and the Furious", HGTV, always getting remodeling ideas. Jerry liked to joke around and tease everyone. Loved his two dogs, Pebbles and Nellie. Jerry loved to buy gifts for Gina and taking her shopping. He loved surprising her with flowers. Gina and his family was what made Jerry the happiest. He was a member of East Main Street Christian Church of Elwood.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, of 20 years, Gina Deavers of Elwood, daughter, Katelynn Deavers of Elwood and daughter, Maranda (Dillon) Pitcher of Richmond, one grandson, Easton Robert to be born in April 2018, father & mother-in-law; Gary (Kathy) Deavers of Elwood, sister-in-law; Heather (Danny) Davis of Elwood, nephews; Colton, Braxton and Tryceton Davis all of Elwood, sister; Ruth Grace of Scranton, PA, sister; Dorothy Babcock of Scranton, PA, brother; Charles Babcock of PA, brother; Raymond Babcock of AR
Jerry was preceded in death by his father; Joseph Babcock, mother; Janet Babcock, brothers, Joey and Kenny Babcock.
Funeral service celebrating Jerry's life will be at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana with Rev. Roger Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 17, 2018, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
