John Darrell Stansberry, age 72, of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness. John was born on April 21, 1947, in Elwood the son of Paul Waldo and Ruth (Little) Stansberry.
On June 7, 1968, he married the love of his life Judy (Spears) Stansberry. John graduated from Frankton High School in 1965. After graduation he was employed at Nicholson File and Airfoil Textron in Elwood. He retired from Dana Corp. in Marion in 2012 after 20 years of service. John was a member of Point Isabel United Methodist Church and a former member of the Rigdon Lions Club. He enjoyed the outdoors mowing the yard and caring for his property. He was an avid sports fan and car buff. He especially enjoyed his 1955 Chevy. John enjoyed his family time and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
John is survived by his loving wife, of 51 years, Judy Stansberry of Elwood, IN, daughter, Kelly Laine (Andy) Butcher, son, Darrell Christopher Stansberry, daughter, Karen Whitney (Mike Waymire) Stansberry all of Elwood and son, Damon Andrew (Kasey) Stansberry of Frankton, grandchildren, Ashley, Andrew, Alison, Sherrae, Bethany, Savannah, Brooklynn, Ethan and Annie, 8 great grandchildren, brother in law, David (Laura) Spears of Lewisville, IN, brothers, Rex (Connie) Stansberry and Frank (Liz) Stansberry both of Frankton, several nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Waldo & Ruth Stansberry, brother, Jack E. Stansberry, sister, Joyce Stansberry, niece, Melissa and nephew, Bill.
Funeral service celebrating John's life will be at 11:00 am Monday, October 21, 2019, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton with Pastor Carolyn Mikesell officiating. Burial will follow in the K of P and IOOF Cemetery in Frankton.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 20, 2019, from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton.
