Jonathan Max Stoops, age 73, of Anderson, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis following an extended illness .
He was born on December 5, 1945 in Noblesville, to the late Samuel and Ava (Wooden) Stoops.
On December 12, 1986 he married Kathy (Hanlin) Stoops.
Jonathan retired in 1994 from General Motors Corporation where he had worked for more than 31 years. He was a graduate of Lapel High School and a served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He was a member of the UAW# 663 .  He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
Jonathan is survived by his loving wife, of 33 years, Kathy Stoops of Anderson, 4 sons, Jonathan ( Beth Dickey) Stoops, Jr., Johnny (Julie) Skinner, Rusty (Christina) Stoops, and Jason (Ashley) Stoops all of Anderson, 3 daughters, Ginger Mercer of Fishers, Mayme (Cash) Canfield of Fishers, and Lisa (Jason) Hinchman of Anderson,  2 sisters, Marsha Kay Mills of Lapel and Joyce Ann (Steve) Chappell of Mt Comfort, several grandchildren including special grandchild, Taylor Stoops, and several nieces and nephews.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Max Stoops, and  his mother, Ava Mae Stoops.
Funeral service will be at  1:00 pm on Friday, September 6, 2019,  at Dunnichay Funeral Home  with Johnny Elder officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Elwood and will include services by the US Military and the Elwood VFW honor guards.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00pm on Friday prior to the funeral service at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson St, Elwood, IN 46036.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veteran's through the funeral home.
