Joseph J. Bucci

March 8, 1927 ~ August 1, 2017 (age 90)

Joseph J. Bucci, age 90, a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at his home.  Joe was born in Elwood, Indiana on March 8, 1927, to the late Marion and Alice (McDaniel) Bucci. Joe was one of 12 children. 
On July 31, 1951 he married the love of his life Margot (Knoell) Bucci and they shared more than 45 years of married life together. 
Joe had 8 1/2 years of education at  Wendell L. Willkie High School and proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the United State Army., serving during  WWII . While serving in Germany, Joe and Margot met, and returned to Elwood to start their family. He  retired in 1984 from Airfoil Textron Corporation in Elwood where he had worked for many years.   Joe was a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood.  He was a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans in Anderson and enjoyed woodworking and music. He was an avid metal detector, a hobby carried on by his son.  
Joseph is survived by 3 daughters,  Angela Molt of Carmel, IN, Mary (Bill) Leavell of Elwood, IN and Andrea (Darren) Cornett of Mt. Washington, KY. 3 sons, James Bucci of California, Kenneth (Sally) Bucci of Greenwood, IN and John (Cindy) Bucci of Elwood, IN.  Several grandchildren,  several great grand grandchildren and  several nieces and nephews.
Joseph was preceded in death by his Father, Marion Bucci, mother, Mary Alice(McDaniel) Bucci, wife of 45 years, Margot(Knoell)Bucci, daughter Kathleen Hammond, brothers, Orville Bucci, Jerry Bucci, and Marion Bucci and  sisters Ernastine Kohl,  Elizabeth Frazee, Joan Morse, Anna Pedro, Nancy Shwalm, Julia Elliot, and Helen Hedgecraft,  and an infant sibling. 

A mass of Christian burial will be conducted at  10:00 AM Friday, August 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Elwood  with  Father Dan Duff officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Elwood with full military honors being conducted by the US Army Honor Guard.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00-8:00 pm Thursday at the Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood.
