Junior Lee Maish, age 80, of Elwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness. Junior was born on October 18, 1938, in Kokomo to Cloyd and Laura (Reppert) Maish.
On June 30, 1956 he married the love of his life Eleanor "Jean" (Mountcastle) Maish who passed on Feb. 11, 2009. Junior retired in 1993, from Fisher Body where he worked in shipping as a fork-truck driver for 29 years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, U.A.W. #663 and the Elwood VFW Auxiliary. Junior's nickname was "Main Street Mayor" because he enjoyed sitting on his front porch waving at everyone. He enjoyed going to Friendly's, the VFW and helping friends out driving them to the grocery or whatever was needed done. He loved spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by all.
Junior is survived by his six daughters, Debbie Duffitt, Lisa (Jeff) Durham, Tisha (Gary) Cole, Tracey (Carl) Chambers, Mary (David) Teague III and Doreenna (Kirby) Fern, thirteen grandchildren, Kasandra Moore, Amber Evans, Jeremy Cole, Sunshine Wright, Natalie Todd, Adam Chambers, Christopher Foor, David Teague IV, Destiny Teague, Bethany Teague, Christie Fern, Brittany Fern and Zachery Fern several great grandchildren, nieces & nephews, four brothers, Ronnie Maish of Warsaw, Donnie Maish of Elwood, Bill Maish of IL, and Robert Maish of MS.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Cloyd & Laura Maish, wife, Eleanor "Jean" Maish, brothers, Victor, Lloyd and Larry Maish, son in law, Rick Duffitt and a great grandson, Logan Adam Chambers.
Funeral service celebrating Junior's life will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, with Pastor Brad Moore officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 9, 2019, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Community Health Network Hospice through the funeral home.
