Martha R. Taylor

March 4, 1932 ~ January 27, 2018 (age 85)

Martha R. Taylor , age 85, of Kokomo, formerly of Elwood, went home to be with our Lord on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Sardis, TN on March 4, 1932, to the late William and Ida (Hoosier) Vandiver.
On March 4, 1950 she married the love of her life James W. Taylor and they shared over 57 years of marriage before his passing on January 9, 2008. Martha was a faithful member of Bethel Tabernacle Church of God in Kokomo. She was a homemaker most of her life and took great pride in caring for her family. To many in her family she was the "Matriarch." She loved going out to eat and spending time with her family. Martha especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered by all her family and friends.
Martha is survived by her two daughters, Patricia A. (husband Allen) Harrison of Kokomo, Norma J. (husband Wesley "Pete") Idlewine of Kokomo; son, James Gary (wife Theresa ) Taylor of Anderson; grandchildren, Anita (husband Joe) Henry, Lindsey (husband Ray) Beeman, Michael Gardner, Braiden Idlewine: great-grandchildren, Tayler and Tanner Henry, Promise, Raiden, Lilly, Alexis, and Bree Gardner; step-grandchildren, Missy Phifer, Joe (wife Linda) Altherr; step great-grandchildren, Braxton and Courtney Altherr, and Bailey Phifer; and several nieces and nephews to whom Martha was a very special Aunt.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ida Vandiver; husband, James W. Taylor; sisters, Maydell Ashcraft, Ilene Klaus, Zadie Maupin, Velta Hanna; and brothers, Tommy, Walt, Lushion, Taft, Carl, Opal and Ocie Vandiver.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana with Pastor Steve Branstutter and Rev. David Cornelius officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 30, 2018, 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 South Anderson Street Elwood, IN 46036..
