Samuel R. "Sam" Hoover

March 11, 1945 ~ April 10, 2018 (age 73)

Samuel R. "Sam" Hoover, age 73, of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at Miller's Merry Manor in Tipton.
He was born on March 11, 1945 in Elwood, to the late Samuel J. and Mary (Durr) Hoover.
On September 29, 1963 he married the love of his life Tyvonnia I.(Cummings) Hoover and they shared more than 54 years of marriage.
Sam was self employed as a contractor for many years.  He volunteered his time serving as a baseball coach in Tipton for many years and enjoyed collecting toy tractors.  Sam loved farming.  He was a hard worker and always provided for his family.   More than anything Sam loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports and spending time with them.
Sam is survived by a daughter, Melissa (Kenny) Beeman of Elwood, a son, Lonnie (Jennifer) Hoover of MI, 6 grandchildren, Chris (Tracy) Brown, Kayla (Jade) Cornwell, Kendra (Jake Crockett) Hunsberger, Kenneth  (Rebecca) Beeman, Jr., Jacob Hoover, and Matthew Hoover, 12 great grandchildren and one on the way, 2 brothers, Kerry Hoover of Elwood and Tony (Leann) Hoover of Tipton, 2 sisters, Joyce Sullivan of Elwood and Marie (George) McPhearson, sister-in-law, Betty Hoover,and several nieces and nephews.
Sam was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Jacob Hoover, mother, Mary Hoover, wife Tyvonnia I. Hoover who passed away December 26, 2017,  and 2 brothers, Daryl Hoover and Leslie "Bud" Hoover.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 pm Friday, April 13, 2018 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, Indiana with Rev. Tim Becker officiating.  Burial will follow in Forrestville Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, April 13, 2018, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
