Susan J. Vandiver, age 75, of Summitville, passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2019 at I.U. Health Methodist in Indianapolis following an extended illness. Susan was born on August 12, 1943 in Brimfield, IN. Susan was the daughter of the late Leo and Bernita (Sharpe) Dauenhauer. She graduated from Wendell L. Willkie High School in 1961. On Nov. 7, 1964 she married the love of her life Jim Vandiver. Susan was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards in her card club and loved spending time with her family. Susan was a loving wife, mom and Grammy.
Susan is survived by her husband, of 54 years Jim Vandiver of Summitville, four daughters, Kristie (Rich) Hobbs, Debbie Spicer, Karen (Greg) Stowers all of Summitville and Mandy (Terry) Baugher of Tipton, two sons, Victor (Angel) Vandiver of Fairmount and Phillip (Amanda) Vandiver of Shamrock Lakes, IN, two foreign exchange student sons, Taro Tsujita of Japan and Martijn Van Lawick Van Pabst of Holland, four sisters, Kathleen (Ronnie) Holtsclaw of MN, Judy Weddell of Hobbs, Rita (John) Borst of Elwood and Becky (Doug) Bouslog of Frankton, four brothers, George (Jan) Dauenhauer, John Dauenhauer both of Elwood, Mick (Karen) Dauenhauer of Valparaiso and Leo (Cathy) Dauenhauer of Ft. Wayne, 18 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents Leo & Bernita Dauenhauer and a brother Phillip Dauenhauer.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am Thursday, August 8, 2019 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Elwood, Indiana with Father Dan Duff officiating. Cremation will follow with burial at a later date in Vinson Cemetery in Summitville. Visitation for family and friends will be on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Dunnichay Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund.
