Inez J (Emerito) Rice Obituary (1924 - 2014)

Inez J. Rice, age 90, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2014 at Community Parkview Care Center, surrounded by her family, after an extended illness. Inez was born in Danbury,Connecticut on March 12, 1924, to the late Nicholas Emerito and Evelyn (Martin) Skelton. She married Jesse E. Riceon December 21, 1961 and they enjoyed281/2 years together before he passed away on May 18,1990. Inez worked as an inspector in various factories.She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church .Inezenjoyed crocheting and knitting in her spare time. She crocheted lap blankets for all the residents at the nursing home, even letting them choose their colors from her assortment of yarns. Inez is survived byloving children ; Son, Patrick E. (Lisa) Rice of Elwood, IN, Son, Richard M. Rice of Elwood, IN, Step-Son, Jesse E. Rice Jr. of Dalewille, IN, Step-Daughter, Carolyn A. Denton of IL, Several Grandchildren, Great Grand Children & Great Great Grandchildren Sister, Julie Gioia of CT, Sister, Margaret Schulz of MA, Brother, James J. Emerito of CT, several nieces & nephews. Inez was preceded in death by her Parents, Nicholas & Evelyn Emerito,Son, Matthew N. Rice, Brothers, Alfred Emerito, Joseph J. Emerito,Nicholas Emerito, and Martin Emerito. Funeral service will be at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 30,2014 at 10:00 A.M.with Father Dan Duff officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Dunnichay Funeral Home. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M.
