Wallace W "Wally" Covington Obituary (1929

Wallace W. "Wally" Covington, age 92, of Frankton, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Wally was born in Weiner, AK on September 28, 1929,the son of the late George R. Covington and Dorothy (Weaver) Walton.He married Flo (Pettigrew) Covington on August 23, 1949and they shared 72 years of marriage together. Wally proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He retired in 1993from Delco Remy after 30 years of service. He was amember of the UAW #662, lifetime member of the Frankton American Legion, VFW, AMVETS and 40 & 8. He was an EMT for the Frankton Ambulance Service for several years and a member of the Ironwood Methodist Bible Church. Wally is survived by his loving wife, Flo Covington of Frankton, IN; two daughters, Diane Fithian of Elwood, IN and Paula (Tolliver) Walker of Anderson, IN; two sons, George (Paula) Covington of Frankton, IN and Eugene Covington of Anderson, IN; seven grandchildren, Larry Brook, CW Covington, James Fithian, Bobbie Stanley, Crissy (Tony) Short, Evan Covington and Justin Finton; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ivonne Covington of Clay City, IN; half-sister, Jane Douglas of Chesterfield, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Wally was preceded in death by his sister, Rosalee Covingtonand brother, Raymond Covington. Visitation will be Monday, February 7, 2022, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pmat Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton. A funeral service celebrating Wally's life will follow the visitation at 1:00 pmwith Rev. Jesse Wolf officiating. Burial will follow in the K. of P. and I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton.
