David Nathan Allen, age 71, of Anderson, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson following recent health issues. He was born in Noblesville on November 27, 1950, to William Gerber and Virginia Dages, and was later adopted by Eugene and Bernice Allen who raised him on their family turkey farm just north of Alexandria.
David married Sharon (Pruitt) Allen on February 1,1975, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Alexandrea Monroe High School, then proudly went on to serve our country in the United States Army. David worked at Delphi and retired on July 1, 2022, after 30 years of service. He was a long-time member and Deacon of the General Assembly Church of the First Born in Elwood. David enjoyed hunting, firearms, and target shooting. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by two sons, Nathan Allen and Matthew Allen; two brothers, Bill Vasbinder, Lonnie Trayweek; four sisters, Phyliss Brownell and Beverly McKinney, Sharon Trayweek and Evelyn Smith; an uncle, Doug Gerber; two brothers-in-law, Ted (wife Mitzi) Pruitt and Tom (wife Teresa) Pruitt; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Along with his birth parents, adopted parents and his wife, David was preceded in death by his brothers, Mike Allen, Kenny Gerber, Donald Trayweek, Tommy Trayweek, and Kevin Gerber.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation from 2 pm to 7 pm on Monday, September 12, 2022, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home 305 East Sigler Street Frankton, IN 46044. A funeral service to honor and celebrate David's life will begin at 11 am on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will take place in the K of P I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton.
