Gail Edward Beeman, age 73, of Elwood, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021, at St. Vincent Hospital 86th Street following an extended illness. He was born in Elwood on September 22, 1947, the son of Lewis and Frances (Dietz) Beeman. Gail married Kathy Ripberger before joining the US Army in 1967. He proudly served his country until his honorable discharge after an injury.
Gail worked for the Tipton County Department of Transportation for 15 years until he retired in 2010. Although he truly loved his career in the transportation department, his real passion was in the construction industry. He was always willing to take on full renovation projects for family and friends. He loved vintage cars, searching for treasures at rummage sales, and he frequented the Strawtown auction every Thursday. Gail will be remembered by his huge heart because he was always willing to help those in need, even strangers whom he would pass along the road.
Gail is survived by two daughters, Samantha (Will) Zettler, Elwood; and Beverly Beeman of Anderson; a son, Bill Beeman of Elwood; brother, Lewis (Becky) Beeman, Jr. of Elwood; sister, Georgie Singer of Elwood; seven grandchildren, Zandra (Jamie) Vautaw, Megan Milliner, William Vautaw, Katie Gibbs, Koren Gibbs, Samuel Harrison and Joshua Beeman; and several nieces and nephews. Gail was preceded in death by his parents; companion, Sally Stanley; brothers, Bill, Jack, Richard, Robert, Hubert and Rick Beeman; sisters, Delores Shannon, Betty Rose Allen, Beverly Weaver and Joan Singer.
Visitation for family and friends is Friday, September 10, 2021, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Dunnichay Funeral Home Elwood Chapel. Funeral services celebrating Gail's life will immediate follow on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 1:00 pm with his cousin Rev. Mike Beeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery.
