Gloria A. Spearman , age 88, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at Miller's Merry Manor following an extended illness. Gloria was born in Madairyville, IN on October 1, 1931, to the late Howard L. Good and Ruth Virginia (McKibben) Stockdale.
On Dec. 12, 1965, she married Edgar M. Spearman and he passed away on Oct. 19, 2005.
Gloria retired from General Motors after 11 years of service and was formerly employed by Monticello Corp. of Elwood. She was co-owner of Spearman Tax Service. She was a faithful member of Main Street Wesleyan Church. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years, active in the Wesleyan Women and Best Year Fellowship. Gloria and her late husband Ed were a host family for 23 foreign exchange students from Brazil, Germany, France, Norway, Thailand, Okinawa, Mexico, Columbia and Russia. She loved her family and especially her grandchildren and will be sadly missed.
Gloria is survived by a daughter, LeeAnn (Les) Graham and a son, Rick Stewart of Elwood, nine grandchildren, Scott (fiance' Kathy) Spicer, Britney (Jason) Miller, Jean Ann (companion Dean) Stewart, Shyla (companion John) Green, Peggy (fiance' Justin) Patton, Jo Ann (Jason) Stewart-Babcock, Shawn (Jamie) Stewart, Laura (Jon) Ash and Wade Graham. Sixteen great grandchildren, Kevin, Madison, Sydney, Gavin, Katelynn, Jenna, Ethan, Alex, Kylie, Morgan, Riley, Griffin, Jackson, McKenna, Taylor and Devon one great great grandson, Braxten. Four step children, eight step grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Howard L. Good, mother, Ruth Virginia Stockdale, husband, Edgar M. Spearman, son, Leroy " Bevo" Stewart, sister, Clara Kestle, step brother, John Bob Epler, step sister, Margaret Blankenship, granddaughter, Jennifer Stewart and great granddaughter, Breanna Patton.
Funeral service celebrating Gloria's life will be at 11:00 am Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, Elwood, with Pastor's Ron & Tim Becker of Main Street Wesleyan Church. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 11, 2020, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Main Street Wesleyan Church or to the Elwood Animal Shelter.
