Jackie Lee Davis

April 19, 1955 ~ April 12, 2022 (age 66)

Jackie  Lee Davis , age 66, of Elwood, passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Elwood on April 19, 1955, to the late Rether and Emma (Bradford) Davis.

Jack married Cindy (Cosby) Davis on August 22, 1972 and they shared over 49 years of marriage together. Jack and Cindy enjoyed going out to eat almost every weekend and were well-known regulars at their favorite restaurants. Jack could talk to anyone. If you were a stranger at the start of the conversation you were friends with Jack by the end of the conversation.

Jack was a proud semi-truck driver for over 40 years. During his driving career, he hauled campers, drove for State Plating, and was an owner operator for FTL Global Carriers. He retired happily on June 25, 2021.

Jack’s greatest joy came from being with his loving family. Jack and Cindy hosted the annual Davis Bean Supper at their home for many years. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, woodworking, and tilling gardens for fellow gardeners in the local area. Jack was fondly nicknamed “Grumpy Old Bastard" by his grandchildren, but he was truly a big teddy bear.

Those left to carry on Jack's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness are his loving wife, Cindy Davis; son, Jake (Milissa ) Davis; daughter, Amy (Jeremy )Cooley; grandchildren, Haley Davis, Emmalee (Carter) Cox, Jacob Levi Stansberry, Ashley (Donavon) Willis, Jewel Sollars, and Cameron Cooley; great-grandchildren, Marcy Cox, Sebastian Price, and Stella Price; sister, Letha (Bob) Hinds; in-laws, Susie (Dale) Fohr, Russell (Vicky) Elliott, Beth (Keith) Truesdel, Charlie Elliott, Michael Cosby, and Bonnie Cosby; close friends, Paula & Mike McCord; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John (Diana) Davis and Jim (Angie) Davis; brothers-in-law, Danny McFall and Mark Cosby; mother and father-in-law, Marjorie & Eldred Elliott; and father-in-law, Michael Cosby.

Jack's wishes were to have a celebration of his life at the Annual Davis Bean Supper which will be held on May 14, 2022 at 3 pm at Jack and Cindy's home. Everyone is invited to come and celebrate Jack and the good life that he lived.
