Obituary

Jeanne Rae Sweet, age 66, of Lebanon and formerly of Elwood, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at her residence.
She was born in Charleston, South Carolina on June 15, 1955, to the late Harold E. and Emily I. (Ballinger) Gross, Sr.  On April 12, 1980, she married  Larry Sweet and they shared 41 years of marriage together.


Jeanne was born without the ability to hear, but she didn't let that hold her back from living her life and loving her family.  She attended school at the Indiana School for the Deaf and graduated in 1976.  She was a homemaker all of her life and loved caring for her family.  Jeanne was a member of  The Greater Indianapolis Deaf Ministry.  She enjoyed attending church and making crafts. 


Jeanne is survived by her husband, Larry Sweet of Lebanon; 3 children,  Rich Sweet of the Indianapolis area, Monica (husband Cody) Smith of Lebanon, and Shannon (husband Fred) Kuhn of Indianapolis;  3 grandchildren, Yazmine, Zaymine, and Jason; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Harold & Emily Gross, Sr, a daughter, Angela Sweet, brothers, Harold Gross, Jr., and Dwight Gross, and sister Emily Brooks.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2021  prior to the funeral service  at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 South Anderson Street, Elwood, IN 46036.  A funeral service celebrating Jeanne's life will conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at Dunnichay Funeral Home in Elwood  with Pastor Raymond Olson  officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Dunnichay Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
