Kenneth R. (aka Spanky) "Kenny" Harris, age 61, of Anderson, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at his residence. Kenny was born in Elwood on December 21, 1960, to Judith (Harris) White. In 1980, Kenny graduated from Elwood Community High School. On December 1, 2001, he married Stephanie Wineinger and they shared more than 20 years of marriage together.
Kenny worked as a welder and was formerly a welding instructor at John H. Hinds Career Center in Elwood. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and considered himself to be the biggest fan of the band Rush. Kenny loved telling jokes and stories and often began a conversation by saying, "I've got a story." Kenny was one of those great people who never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Kenny is survived by his wife, Stephanie Harris; mother, Judy White; eight children, Travis (Molly) Harris, Joiceann (James) Janes, Lori (Kevin) Davidson, Trenton Harris, McKenzie (James Winne) Harris, Samuel Harris, Laura (Nate) Worton, and Kimberly (Clay Fague) Cole; seven grandchildren, Harper Janes, Haylie Harris, Kali Sweet, Emma Winne, Laylee Worton, Matison Spencer, and Alex Spencer; sister, Pam White; several nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; and his beloved dog Leroy. Kenny was preceded in death by his father; step-father, and grandparents who raised him, Ruth and Harold Harris.
Visitation will take place from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 South Anderson Street in Elwood. Immediately following the visitation at 7:00pm, a funeral service honoring Kenny's life will be conducted with Rev. Matt Miller officiating. Cremation will follow.
