Lona J Hoover, age 69, of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at Community Hospital in Anderson following an extended illness. She was born in Peru, IN on October 2, 1951, to the late Lawrence and Lois (Johnson) Booth.
On August 19, 1975, she married Thomas E. Hoover and they shared 46 years of marriage together.
Lona retired from Kroger after several years of service and also from General Motors. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, but most of all she looked forward to family outings and she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Lona is survived by her husband, Thomas E. Hoover of Elwood, IN; three sons, Dan Hoover of Greentown, Carl (Shannon) Hoover of Alexandria, and Andy Hoover of Summitville; a daughter, Sheila Nunanaker of Summitville; three grandchildren, Kai Hoover, Joseph and Mike Seastrand; three great-grandchildren, Joseph Jr., Nick and Bryson Seastrand; a sister, Linda (Roger) Smith of Wabash; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents Lona was preceded in death by her a son, Phil Hoover and a great-grandson, Sammual Seastrand.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 5, 2021, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home Elwood Chapel. Funeral service celebrating Lona's life will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Dunnichay Funeral Home with Pastor Nate Warren officiating. Cremation will follow.
