Michael Bernard Idlewine Jr., age 78, of Alexandria, passed away on July 14, 2021, at Autumnwood Village Assisted Living in Tipton following extended health issues. Mike was born on December 15, 1942, in Alexandria, he was the son of Michael B. Idlewine Sr. and Mary (Emmons) Idlewine.
On December 29, 1962, Mike married Linda Kay Rogers and they shared 42 years of marriage before her passing on September 14, 2005. Mike was a member of the Alexandria Gun Club and the Summitville United Methodist Church. He was an avid marksman, and was once named the amateur trap shooter of the year. Mike retired from Delco Remy in Anderson and also enjoyed farming his land for many years.
Mike is survived by his three children, Cathy (Tony) Bailey, Tony (Lisa) Idlewine and Brad (Carolyn McMorrow) Idlewine; three grandchildren, William (Kristin) Idlewine, Lucas Idlewine and Abby Bailey; three great-grandchildren, Xavier, Zoey, and Liam Idlewine; three step-grandchildren, Aidan, Bryce, and Carter McMorrow; and two sisters, Sharon (Kenny) Summers, and Carol (Jerry) Ewing. Along with his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his wife Linda Kay Idlewine.
The family would like to thank Autumnwood Village for the care they provided to Mike over the past three years. They would also like to thank the aides, and Guardian Angel Hospice for the special care they gave to Mike during his final days.
Visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood. Immediately following the visitation burial will take place in Vinson Cemetery in Summitville. The family has requested that everyone attending to please dress in casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s name to the Madison County 4-H Building Fund through the Dunnichay funeral home.
