Robert E. Knotts passed away on January 14, 2023. He was born April 10, 1933, in Elwood to Ursel and Marie (Wallace) Knotts.
Bob graduated from Wendell Willkie High School in 1953 and served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Bob married the love of his life, Darlene Riggs Knotts on September 23, 1956.
Bob retired from Delco Remy in 1998 where he worked for many years in production. During the years he worked for General Motors, he and Darlene also owned a furniture upholstery business. Bob was a man of faith who loved the Lord, his family, his church family, and his friends. Bob was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Frankton, a member of the Frankton Lions Club and a member of the United Auto Workers.
Bob was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a kindhearted man with a gentle but competitive spirit. Bob loved playing and watching sports with his children and grandchildren; he sat many years on the school bleachers cheering on all his family. He as an avid IU basketball fan, enjoyed camping, swimming, and all outdoor activities.
Bob is survived by his wife, Darlene (Riggs) Knotts; sons, Dean (Becky Fish) Knotts, David (Donna Harper - deceased) Knotts, Don (Andrea Norrod) Knotts; and daughter, Debra (Ronny) Knotts-Betz. His pride and joy were all his children and their spouses; 12 grandchildren and spouses; and 24 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ramona (Knotts) Whistler and Bonnie (Knotts) Ice; and two brothers, Jerry Knotts and Ursel Knotts, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ursel and Marie (Wallace) Knotts; four siblings, Emmogene Wittkamper, Rosella Smith, Rita Knotts, and Jimmy Knotts.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, 305 E. Sigler St., Frankton, IN 46044.
A Funeral service will be held beginning at 1:00 pm on Thursday, January 19, 2023, following the visitation at the funeral home with Rev. Bob Preusz officiating.
Burial will follow at K.of P.-I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton.
