Robert Pool, age 83, of Marion passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021, in Marion following extended health issues. Robert was born in Elwood on December 4, 1937. He was the son of the late Harold and Alice Pool.
Following graduation from Wendell L. Willkie High School, Robert entered the United States Navy where he served our nation from 1957 until his retirement in 1977. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, Robert continued his service to our country by enlisting in the Navy Reserves and eventually retiring on May 1, 1985. During his naval career, Robert was a pilot and obtained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Following his retirement from the Navy Reserves, Robert worked at Ed Martin in Anderson until 2012.
Robert was married to his first wife Marilyn (Kleyla) Pool for 56 years until she passed away in 2013. On September 20, 2014 he married Wanda (Brownfield) Williams-Pool. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, flying, and gardening. Robert was an avid reader, very creative and organized and enjoyed traveling with his family. He will be remembered as a sweet person, loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Robert leaves behind his wife, Wanda; a daughter, Angela (Pool) Baldwin; grandchildren, Antwanette Holmes, Robert French, Sylias Haggard, Nicole Pool, and Abby (Pool) O'Connell; great-grandchildren, Zhane Holmes, Andre Holmes, Alyssa Haggard, David James Haggard, Harper Haggard, Brianna French, Sarah French, Shelby French, and Chayce Pool; sisters, Beverly (husband George) Wallis, Vickie Kinnaman and Mary Alice (husband Richard) Boyland; brother, Randy Pool; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Pool; sons, Nathan Pool, and Robert Pool Jr.; brother, Arthur "Art" Pool; and sister, Suzanne Biddle.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Jim and Cindy Swan, and Rob and Sharon Williams for their unconditional love, support, and prayers.
A visitation to honor Robert's life will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at Harper and Dunnichay Funeral Home, 305 Sigler Street Frankton, IN 46044. Private family burial with full military honors provided by the United States Navy will take place in the K Of P I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton.
