William T. "Troy" Creech, age 83, of Elwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at his residence following an extended illness. Troy was born in Harlan County, KY on June 16, 1938. He was the son of the late Virgil and Sara (Rice) Creech. On Aug. 16, 1957, he married Sherry R. (Bush) Creech and they shared 61 years of marriage together.
Troy worked for Steven Springs, Ex-Cell-O, and Steel Parts before retiring after several years of service. He enjoyed looking for treasures at rummage sales, Karaoke, bluegrass festivals, playing cards, going fishing, and he was very competitive while playing horseshoes. Most of all he found great pleasure in taking walks through Callaway Park with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Troy is survived by four sons, Bill (Karen) Creech of Marion, Tom Creech of Elwood, Todd (Marilee) Creech of Muncie and Scott (Ginger) Creech of Elwood; daughter, Tracey (Charles) Kurtz of Elwood; grandchildren, Richard (Ashley) Schorr III, Stephanie Pete (Christopher McClellan), Anthony Schorr ( Kaylie Cunningham), Andrew Creech, Brett Waugh, Brianna Kern, Elizabeth Young, David Wolford, Alexis Kurts, Caitlyn Kurtz, Emily Kurtz and Jacob Kurtz; great-grandchildren, Joshua Pete,Jr., Aiden Pete, Cloey Pete, Dalton McClellan, Maddie, Hunter, Savanah, Logan and Billy Schorr, Abigail Miller, Brigette Kern and Dallas Young, several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Troy was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Creech in 2018, brother, Larry Creech; sisters, Imogene Porter, Beulah Pritchard and Pearl Meyers.
Funeral service celebrating Troy's life will be at 11:00 am Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Dunnichay Funeral Home Elwood Chapel with Pastor Jack Bess officiating. Burial will follow in the Elwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 20, 2021, from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm, at Dunnichay Funeral Home, 1113 S. Anderson Street, Elwood, Indiana.
